Data Deletion

Your right to erasure under GDPR and CCPA

At Kompense, we respect your right to control your personal data. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data from our systems.

How to Request Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your personal data in two ways:

Option 1: Email Request

Send an email to privacy@kompense.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include:

  • Your full name
  • The email address associated with your Kompense account
  • Whether you want a full account deletion or deletion of specific data

Option 2: In-App Deletion

Log into your Kompense account, navigate to Settings > Account > Delete Account, and follow the prompts. This will initiate an immediate deletion request for all your personal data.

What Gets Deleted

When you request data deletion, the following information will be permanently removed from our systems:

  • Your account profile information (name, email, company, job title)
  • Your competitive intelligence dashboards and saved reports
  • Custom battlecards and analysis you have created
  • Alert preferences and notification settings
  • Usage analytics and activity logs associated with your account
  • Any uploaded files or documents

What We May Retain

Certain information may be retained even after a deletion request, as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Financial records: Transaction and billing records as required by tax and accounting regulations (typically retained for 7 years).
  • Legal obligations: Data necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
  • Aggregated data: De-identified or aggregated data that can no longer be linked to you.

Processing Timeline

30-Day Processing Period

We will process your data deletion request within 30 days of receiving it. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete. During this period, your account will be deactivated and your data will be inaccessible.

Verification

To protect your privacy, we may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request. We will ask you to confirm your identity using the email address associated with your account. If you are unable to verify your identity, we may not be able to process your request to protect against unauthorized deletion.

Third-Party Data

When we delete your data from our systems, we will also instruct our third-party service providers (such as our analytics and payment processors) to delete your data from their systems. Please note that we cannot guarantee the deletion timelines of third-party providers, but we will make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure your data is removed.

Your Rights

In addition to the right to deletion, you also have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Restriction: Request that we limit the processing of your data
  • Objection: Object to the processing of your data for certain purposes
